STUDENTS - a message from your local councillors12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 24th Sep 2007
It's the time of year again when 2000 new first-year undergraduates will be moving into Talybont Halls in Gabalfa, with more students returning to halls at Allensbank House, Evelian Court and hundreds of houses in Cardiff North. The Cardiff North Lib Dem team extend their welcome to all new arrivals, and the councillors for Gabalfa and Talybont - Ed Bridges and Cathy Pearcy - will be making efforts over the coming weeks to contact all new students in halls. Cllr. Ed Bridges (who is also a postgraduate student at Cardiff University) said: "The Liberal Democrats put student issues at the heart of our local campaigning and are always keen to help local students where we can. Any student who is opposed to top-up fees, the war in Iraq or ID cards should bear in mind that the Lib Dems have been resolutely opposed to the government on all three issues. And it is the Lib Dems who are coming up with decent proposals to tackle climate change and promote greener living." Cllr. Cathy Pearcy added: "Any new first-year, at Talybont or anywhere else, who would like to know more about the Lib Dems should consider joining the student Lib Dems at Cardiff University. To find out more, they can come and visit their stall at Freshers Fayre on Thursday 27th September in the Great Hall of the Students' Union between 10am and 4pm."
