Lib Dem campaigner Fenella Bowden is concerned that Rhiwbina's Independent councillors are advocating higher traffic speeds by local schools

The following letter has been sent to the South Wales Echo from Rhiwbina Lib Dem activist, Fenella Bowden, in response to the latest news over the road narrowing scheme at Heol Llanishen Fach, Rhiwbina:

Sir,

I note that the Rhiwbina Independent councillors are in favour of replacing the Heol Llanishen Fach road narrowing with traffic signals rather than the proposed 20 mph speed limit with speed cushions ("Change to road could take years" - Echo article Tuesday 16th Jan).

Are we to conclude, therefore, that not only are Jayne Cowan and Adrian Robson supporting a proposal that will cost over three times as much to install, coupled with the loss of vital parking spaces for the local shops, but are also prepared to ignore the professional assessment that traffic signals will result in an increase in the average speed of traffic in the vicinity?

This would be a dangerous outcome for the nearby school.

Yours faithfully,

Fenella Bowden
