Cardiff North Liberal Democrats were delighted to host a visit today from top Lib Dem MP, Simon Hughes. Simon, who is the party's spokesman on Constitutional Affairs and also the Lib Dem Party Present, spent the afternoon helping us with local campaigns. One particular highlight included Simon speaking with disabled railway users at Llandaf Station who are unhappy with Arriva Trains' refusal to improve access.

Local councillor, Ann Rowland-James, has been campaigning for years to resolve the issue, which Simon has promised to raise in Westminster. Cllr. Ann said: "It was great to have the support of such a high-profile MP on this issue. It's scandalous in this day and age that people with disabilities cannot have equal access to something as basic as a train station. We are very grateful to Simon for his support."

Lib Dem Assembly candidate for Cardiff North, Cllr. Ed Bridges, added: "This a crucial issue on which the Lib Dems have campaigned very hard indeed. Ann has tirelessly raised this with Arriva, and hopefully the support of such a well-known MP will help to get the matter resolved."
