The no. 37 bus service which connects Gabalfa and Mynachdy estates to the city centre has been experiencing some difficulties. The main problem is the route along Appledore Road in Mynchady, Llandaff North ward. As a result of Appledore Road's narrow carriageway, the bus frequently experiences difficulties in navigating past parked cars.
A senior manager within the transportation department at Cardiff Council is looking reroute the bus. Instead of sending the bus down Appledore Rd, it will stop on the Western Avenue slip road up to Gabalfa interchange (known locally as 'Half-way-on-the-Hill').
This move may increase the distance between home and the bus stop but the advantages are:
• Buses less likely to be delayed navigating the narrow Appledore Road
• Unlike Appledore Road, the Half-way-on-the-Hill stop has a shelter
• More buses to choose from (nos. 35 & 36 also stop at Half-way-on-the-Hill)
However, before the officer makes a final decision, we invite you to comment on the proposal by emailing Cllrs Ann Rowland-James (arowland-james@cardiff.gov.uk) or Jacqui Hooper (jhooper@cardiff.gov.uk).
