Cllr. Ed Bridges (Gabalfa ward) and Cllr. Simon Pickard (Cathays) have been testing out the new five-a-side pitch at Maindy, where Cardiff's Lib Dem Council has invested £25,000 into the new facility.
Cardiff's Liberal Democrat council has invested in a new games area at Maindy Leisure Centre.
Following a £25,000 investment from the council, the new facility has now opened. As well as a Multi-Use Games Area, there are also two five-a-side football pitches, all next to the playground on Gelligaer Street.
The pitches have proved very popular, particularly with pupils from Cathays High School - and even local councillors have been having a go!
Cllr. Ed Bridges of Gabalfa ward said: "This is a great new facility, and a huge improvement on the old pitch which was rarely used. I'm really pleased that the Council has invested in local leisure facilities."
Simon Pickard, councillor for Cathays, added: "With the World Cup upon us, it's fantastic that people in our area can have somewhere to practice their skills!"
