John Dixon has given three good reasons to vote for the Liberal Democrats in Cardiff North and avoid the prospect of a Tory MP for our area.
With the election closing in, voters in Cardiff North have a clear choice - they can opt for change with John Dixon and the Lib Dems, or they can be stuck with the same old parties. Here are three good reasons to vote for John Dixon, the choice for change in Cardiff North:
1) EXPENSES: Labour and the Tories can't be trusted to reform the system of MPs' expenses - but John has made a clear pledge on the issue. If elected, John will publish all expenses online and will refuse to claim for mortgage payments, groceries or furniture. In contrast, the Conservative candidate voted to conceal his expenses when he was an MEP! Only a vote for John will clean up our rotten political system.
2) ECONOMY: Vince Cable, Nick Clegg and the Lib Dems foresaw the recession and had called for stronger regulation of the banks. The Lib Dems would boost the economy by cutting taxes for those on the lowest incomes whilst tackling tax loopholes for the super-rich. The Tories would cut taxes for their millionaire chums and do nothing for ordinary people.
3) ENVIRONMENT: The Lib Dems have set a target of reaching a zero carbon Britain by 2050. A recent Guardian survey showed that Lib Dem councils like Cardiff have the greenest credentials, with Conservative councils being the least green. John is committed to taking tough action to safeguard our environment - but a third of Tory MPs won't even accept that climate change is a man-made phenomenon! Only the Lib Dems will take action on climate change.
Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats are the party of change at this General Election.
Remember - in our area, it's John Dixon and the Liberal Democrats whose support is growing and challenging the Conservatives. But don't just take our word for it! The BBC's Political Editor, Nick Robinson, recently said: "Labour's support [in Cardiff North] slumped from over 50% of the vote in 1997 to 39% at the last election... However, the Tories failed to gain from this decline, picking up just 227 votes in those eight years. The reason? Voters who deserted Labour switched, in the main, to the Lib Dems."
On 6th May, only a vote for John Dixon and the Lib Dems will mean real action and real change on the environment, the economy and the expenses system.
