Local activists, Ed Bridges and John Dixon, are pleased that Cardiff's Lib Dem Council is taking action to improve rented housing.
Cardiff's Lib Dem Council is looking into a major new scheme to improve the quality of rented housing.
The council has recently completed a consultation on radical plans which would involve licensing all properties in a trial area which are rented to three or more people. It follows a high-profile campaign by local Liberal Democrats calling for landlords to improve the quality of their accommodation.
Cllr. Ed Bridges, who has been fighting for the scheme, said: "Far too many shared houses in our area are neglected, with tenants and other residents suffering as a result. A licence would force landlords to invest money to improve the safety, security and energy-efficiency of properties."
The scheme is also being backed by Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate, John Dixon, who said: "If agreed, the trial scheme is due to start later this year, and I hope it will prove a success."
