Cardiff North Lib Dem Parliamentary spokesperson John Dixon has welcomed moves by Cardiff Council to block the siting of an O2 mast at the entrance of Christ the King School in Llanishen.
At a meeting held on the site, Planning Officer from Cardiff Council explained to O2 that they did not have prior planning consent for the mast and that, if an alternative site was not found, that the Council would pursue legal action to prevent development on the site.
O2 has agreed that no more work will be carried out while they look for other sites, and that they will keep both the Council and the headteacher of Christ the King school informed.
John Dixon said "I'm glad that the Council has stepped in to stop O2 from putting up a mobile phone mast without permission. All of us use mobile phones, so we all know that these masts have to go somewhere, but the operators can't just plant them anywhere they like."
