Cardiff North Lib Dem candidate, John Dixon, has welcomed news that Cardiff Council has signed up to a campaign to reduce its carbon emissions.
John Dixon has welcomed Cardiff Council's announcement that it will sign up to the 10:10 climate change project.
The Lib Dem-led council has agreed to cut its carbon emissions by at least 10% in 2010, in support of a UK-wide campaign to dramatically reduce the UK's impact on climate change.
John said: "We need individuals and organisations to take the lead and act on climate change. That's why the Council has already committed to reduce its own carbon emissions by 60% by 2018, and is working with partners to help them do the same."
The Liberal Democrats have already taken significant steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Cardiff. Local schools were recently given £1 million to improve the energy efficiency of classrooms. Cardiff was also the first UK city to introduce a free food waste collection to every household.
