Health, Social Care and Wellbeing Strategy Consultation launched

November 1, 2007 6:14 PM

Cllr John Dixon, executive member for Health, Social Care and Wellbeing on Cardiff County Council has launched a major consultation that will affect both health and social services across Cardiff.

As Chair of the Cardiff Health Alliance, John hosted the event, at the Sports and Social Club at the University Hospital of Wales, Heath Park, and outlined what was in the draft strategy.

The consultation document suggests that the first strategy's priorities:

  • Mental health,
  • Older people,
  • Children and young people,
  • Communities with specific needs,
  • Improving lifestyles,
  • Maximising the use of health and social care resources;

will remain as the Health Alliance's key aims.

John said "We've come a long way in changing the services to meet the current needs of Cardiff residents, but health and social demands are constantly changing. The next strategy needs to build on what's already been achieved and set the priorities for the next three years.

"This is a really critical strategic document that will affect both the Council and the Local Health Board, so it's important that everyone has the opportunity to have their say. The questionnaire will be appearing in a future Capital Times, but can is also online, with all the supporting documents, at http://cardiffhealthalliance.org/English/HealthStrategy.htm
