Cllr John Dixon, Parliamentary Spokesperson for Cardiff North, said of the news that Sir Menzies Campbell was to step down with immediate effect, "I'm very sorry to lose Ming as leader. When he visited Cardiff last spring it was obvious from peoples' reactions what high regard he's held in. There are few people with such strength of character and gravitas within politics - I hope that we as a party continue to benefit from his experience and wisdom in whatever role he wishes to play."
Cllr Ed Bridges, Assembly Spokesperson for Cardiff North, went on to say, "Ming has been an extraordinary leader, who has brought stability and direction to the party. As ever, he has put the needs of the Liberal Democrats above himself. We all owe him a debt of thanks."
