Briardene site - your views sought

October 22, 2007 12:00 AM
Cllr. Ed Bridges and Cllr. Cathy Pearcy by Briardene Road Safety Centre

Protecting our area: Cllr. Cathy Pearcy and Cllr. Ed Bridges want to hear residents' views on the future of the road safety site at Briardene.

The Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team is interested in the views of local residents on the future of the Briardene site on North Road.

Cardiff Council want to move the cycling proficiency facilities to Maindy, where the BMX track and velodrome are located - but local councillors, Ed Bridges and Cathy Pearcy, want to ensure that no huge developments are forced on the site when it is vacated.

Cllr. Cathy Pearcy said: "It makes sense to move the cycling facilities to Maindy - but we want to know what residents would like to see on the Briardene site if that happens. We want to avoid over-development of the area."

At a recent council meeting, Ed outlined concerns over the potential for a large development at the site. As a result, the council are considering ways to limit the scale of any future development. If anyone would like to read Ed's speech to the council on the issue, they can e-mail ebridges@cardiff.gov.uk

To have YOUR say on the issue, contact any of the Gabalfa Focus Team.
