Gabalfa ward rubbish collection information

Cllr. Cathy Pearcy and Cllr. Ed Bridges want Gabalfa residents to know when their bin day is.

The Gabalfa Lib Dem Focus Team want to remind residents of the correct arrangements for disposing of rubbish.

With so many new residents arriving into the area over recent weeks, many people have got in touch to clarify when the council collects the different-coloured rubbish bags and bins.

Cllr. Ed Bridges told us: "There has been a little confusion, so all properties in Gabalfa ward will receive a leaflet from us outlining the correct arrangements for waste disposal. For those people who live in Gabalfa ward - which is the area off Whitchurch Road, and South Mynachdy - the guidance is below."

The council collects BLACK BINS/BAGS (for general household waste) every TUESDAY. Residents are asked to place bags/bins on the pavement no earlier than 4pm on a Monday and no later than 7am on a Tuesday.

GREEN BAGS (for glass, plastic and paper) are collected on ALTERNATE TUESDAYS. These should be left on the pavement (not in bins). The next dates for green bag collection are the 9th and 23rd October.

WHITE BAGS (for compostable rubbish - garden waste, vegetable waste and shredded paper) are collected on ALTERNATE TUESDAYS on the weeks when green bags are not collected. These should be left in a green bin if you have one. The next dates for white bag collection are the 16th and 30th October.

Cllr. Cathy Pearcy said: "Once you get into the habit, it's easy. Black bags and green bags one week, black bags and white bags the next - it's as simple as that!
