The Llandaff North Focus Team was delighted to attend the recent opening of a new set of fortified gates next to Llandaff North library designed to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area.
Residents suffered for years with drug-taking and anti-social behaviour in the area behind the library. But Cardiff's Liberal Democrat council has erected the new gates to keep non-residents out of the site.
Part of the land will now be given to properties on Gabalfa Avenue to extend their gardens, while the rest of the land will be made into a grass area, providing much-needed open space.
Local Lib Dem councillor, Ann Rowland-James, had been calling on the council to install the gates for years. Ann told us: "I'm so pleased that this has finally been resolved. I was very happy to support the hard work has paid off and that the council listened to our needs."
Local Lib Dem Assembly candidate, Ed Bridges, added: "This shows what a hard-working Lib Dem councillor and determined residents can achieve together. Ann has worked really hard on the issue to address the problem the residents were experiencing."
Ann and Ed attended the grand opening of the new gates last month (see photo above) and look forward to adding to these local improvements in future.
