Gabalfa Lib Dems call for Flint Street clear-up

Cllr. Ed Bridges wants to see action to tidy up the patch of land by the flats at Flint Street, Gabalfa.

Welsh Liberal Democrats in Gabalfa ward have demanded that Cardiff Council takes steps to clear up the area of land next to the flats on Flint Street off North Road.

Residents have experienced prolonged fly-tipping problems on the land, which is not owned by either the council or any of the adjoining properties on North Road. Rubbish, mattresses and other litter has frequently been abandoned there, with no-one taking responsibility for the appearance of the area.

Local councillor and Cardiff North's Lib Dem Assembly candidate, Ed Bridges, said: "This issue has gone on for as long as anyone can remember. But I want the council to step in and address the issue, for the benefit of the many council tenants in the area who have to put up with the mess."

Ed has asked for the current rubbish to be cleared up, but has also asked the council to again look into long-term solutions for the patch of land and to consider taking action against those found fly-tipping.

Gabalfa Lib Dem councillor, Cathy Pearcy, added: "Hopefully the council will step in and take the appropriate action, and also re-examine rubbish collection arrangements for the area to see if any changes can be made to keep the area tidy."
