Llandaff Station - Lib Dem pressure mounts on Arriva

Simon Hughes MP, Cllr. Ann Rowland-James and Cllr. Ed Bridges want to see better disabled access at Llandaff Station.

The campaign by Welsh Liberal Democrats in Llandaff North to improve access for disabled people at Llandaff Station has reached Parliament.

Residents may recall that Lib Dem MP Simon Hughes came to the station last September to listen to residents' concerns that one platform at the station cannot be reached without walking down a steep flight of steps.

As a result of that meeting, Simon has put a series of questions regarding the station to the Secretary of State for Transport. He told us: "People in wheelchairs should expect to be able to get on any train at any station in Wales, including a small station like Llandaff."

Local Lib Dem councillor, Ann Rowland-James, added: "It is about time something was done, as this excludes members of our community. We are very grateful to have a Lib Dem MP fighting our corner on the issue."

Ed Bridges, Lib Dem Assembly candidate for Cardiff North, said: "This campaign has come about through the hard work of Llandaff North's Liberal Democrat councillor. Only the Lib Dems can be trusted to tackle local issues like this."
